Every time I see Camden wearing her new socks, I say how cute they are, as it's SO true!
She really wanted knee highs because it would make her more Hermione-like. Of course.
I was excited to use a skein of
Maker's Haven yarn I had won in a giveaway on her podcast's
youtube channel! The colorway is called Sunkissed, though I see no other stashes of this colorway on
Ravelry.
I used my usual sock pattern, the
Children's Easy Lightweight Socks, and I simply lengthened them and knit ribbing on the back. I do always make the heel flap longer, to accommodate for my tighter row gauge on size 00 needles. I had never knit knee highs before, so, I pretended to myself they'd stay up above the calf with no further changes, but it seems as though that is NOT the case, sadly. They do tend to slouch down her leg, but she doesn't seem to mind. Also, I knit them on 56 stitches, which is my last time, I believe. I just started another pair of socks for her with a 60-stitch cast-on. they won't be AS snug, but they'll still be snug. It was just getting to the point where the fit ON is lovely, but getting them up over the instep is too much work, and I hate putting that much pressure on the yarn.
Nothing super jazzy to say about the socks. As you can see, the colorway is super gorgeous, and thanks again to
Amber of Maker's Haven! The weather clearly hasn't been all that chilly for a long sock, but Camden is somehow powering through wearing them almost every day ;)
